Open the File Explorer app (brown folder icon) located on the taskbar or by searching in the Start Menu search bar.
Right-click on This PC located on the left navigation pane. Select Map to Network Drive..
In the next screen prompt, select the Drive letter.
In the Folder box, enter the full path to the folder you've been granted access.
Example: \\data.ucdenver.pvt\dept\SOM
The sys admin team can also confirm the full path once security permissions have been granted.
If you're trying to map to a Home Drive: \\data.ucdenver.pvt\home\username
Be sure to replace username with your university username.
During the credential prompt, enter UNIVERSITY\ and then enter your university username and password in the next box. Check the box to Remember my credentials.
*Pls note: when you update your unviersity password, you will need to remap to the network drive with your updated password.
Common Reasons You Can't Map a Shared Drive
Not connected to VPN: Always connect to VPN if you're working remotely or off campus.
Incorrect folder path: Double-check the path:
\\data.ucdenver.pvt\dept\SOM\ or \\data.ucdenver.pvt\dept\SPH\
Wrong credentials: Use UNIVERSITY\username format when prompted.
No permissions: Contact IT to confirm you have access rights.
Drive letter conflict: Try a different drive letter (e.g., Z: or Y:).
Cached bad credentials: Clear saved entries in Credential Manager.
Outdated network drivers: Update your network adapter drivers.
