GlobalProtect is the VPN software required to connect to the campus network ucdenver.pvt. This will allow you to connect to resources that require the campus network, such as network drives.
Install GlobalProtect
If you have a CU-Issued computer, GlobalProtect is installed by default. If you need to install GlobalProtect, follow these steps. See Re-install Global Protect for more information

Connecting to the VPN

GlobalProtect should be available from the taskbar automatically when the computer starts.
Generally the icon is "hidden" on your taskbar meaning, you have to click the Show Hidden Icons
to see hidden icons. GlobalProtect's icon is a Globe
that when hovered over displays the text "Not Connected"
If you don't see the icon in your taskbar, search for "GlobalProtect" in the start Menu and select.
When you left-click the icon in the taskbar, the following window will appear.
Click connect to be brought to the UCD Access credentials screen. Enter your credentials then approve via DUO. The GlobalProtect icon should then turn blueindicating that you are connected to the VPN and on the CU network.
Two portals exist, amc-vpn.ucdenver.edu and dc-vpn.ucdenver.edu
Try another portal if your connection is unstable. If you are missing select the Manage Portals option from the dropdown, click the + symbol, and enter the missing portal.
Mac Security Permissions
If you're using macOS version 10.14.X or lower, you will need to complete the instructions below.
- Open System Preferences by clicking the Apple logo at the top of your screen then selecting System Preferences.
- Click Security & Privacy
- Under the General tab, there will be a blurb about allowing Palo Alto networks at the bottom of the box.
- Click the Lock button in the bottom left corner of the box
- Enter your computer password
- Click the Allow button
- Close System Preferences
- Open Global Protect
- Click the three-line/Settings icon in the top right corner
- Click Refresh Connection
