To resolve common printing errors on MacOS with the Xerox printer, follow these steps to reinstall the printer using Xerox's installation program instead of the built-in MacOS "Add Printer" function.
*Note that this guide is primarily for C8200 Xerox Printers (8245 in this example), but should work with others.
1. Open the System Settings (Apple Icon in top-left > System Settings), scroll to the bottom, and select "Printers & Scanners"
2. If you have the printer installed, it is likely shown as just the IP Address (see screenshot). Click the > to the right of the printer, then click "Remove Printer..." and "Remove Printer" again.
3. Download the Xerox Drivers installer. Here is the direct link for the most recent installer as of February 2025 for MacOS versions 13, 14, and15 (Click the Apple icon > About this Mac to see which one you have).
*If you are running MacOS 12 Monterey or earlier, you will need to go to this webpage and make sure the filters match your current OS (see screenshot below):
4. Open the .dmg file you downloaded and then open the .pkg file inside:
5. Click "Allow," "Continue," "Agree," and "Install" as you go through the installer. You will need to enter the Mac password. You will then see this screen, click on "Don't See Your Printer?"
6. Type the IP Address of the printer (10.17.103.107 for the OB-GYN printer in RC2 outside of P15-3016). Most printers should have the IP Address on a label on the physical printer itself.
7. If you see the model of your printer, you have typed the correct IP. Click "Continue" three times and then close the installer to finish the process.
8. When you go to print, make sure you select the new printer:
Your printer should now be ready to go! Please contact IT if you run into any issues with this process.
